Andalucía’s capital today unveils a new luxury hotel within its historic city centre, with the opening of Mercer Seville, Casa Palacio Castelar 5-star GL, writes Andrew Forbes.
Here at TLE, over the past year or more, we’ve been following the hotel’s progress; so, we’re pleased, that after months of anticipation, the property is finally open.
This 19th century historic palace is now a 12-room boutique hotel with choice of guestrooms and suites.
The once abandoned Casa Palacio is now once again a place of glamour and style. Stunning original features such as the sweeping staircase and the central patio have been restored, and creatively incorporated into a design aesthetic that has plenty of 21st century twists, including a striking vertical garden.
The refined and elegant décor and handmade furnishings are bespoke to the property and echo the golden era of Seville’s rich history. The interiors are by Amanda Molina of Mercer Hotels – and she’s certainly demonstrated her impeccable taste, as well as skill at commissioning bespoke furniture.
The property also has a restaurant, the Maria Luisa; Cocktail Bar by Diego Cabrera; and roof terrace, which is the place to be I’m sure during sultry Spanish nights – there’s even a refreshing pool for dipping your toes in.
Information
So if you ever needed another reason to head to Seville, then this hotel sure is it! The city is less than 2.5 hours by high speed train from Madrid, and is also served by a small international airport. It’s also a few hours by motorway from Malaga.
Rack rates are suggested at 630 euro per night, but for guests wishing to stay during the soft-opening period the hotel is offering promotional rates directly on its website. However, for the cheapest rates try the online travel agents, as the hotel lists a minimum of 3 rooms with booking.com with prices from 250 euro.
