Glen Moray Whisky Review

Here at TLE we love whisky which is mainly down to my Scottish roots. I have vivid memories of growing up when we visited my gran and grandpa they would have a whisky ready for my Mum and Dad after our 5 hour drive up across the Scottish highlands to the little fishing village of Carradale. If I was lucky enough I would be given a little nip to taste and we sat next to the coal fire catching up and sharing stories. I think it’s these happy childhood family times that solidified my love for Scottish whisky.

So I was delighted to try out a new whisky by Glen Moray – Glen Moray Classic Peated Single Malt. This whisky is a Single Malt Scotch Whisky from Elgin, Speyside. Distilled in copper stills on the banks of the River Lossie.

What Does It Taste Like?

This whisky expression I really liked, it’s quite light on the nose and mouth and also light in colour. I would say ideal for people who are not whisky lovers per say, but want to get into it. Peat smoke is used to dry the barley prior to distillation, but I found the peat smell again light on the senses so not overpowering. The whisky also includes sweet vanilla favours which keep the taste fresh. The whisky is matured in ex-bourbon barrels from North America which adds an extra layer of spicy richness to the smell and taste.

I love drinking whisky on its own, but it would work well accompanied with a smoked food, try pairing it up with a cheese and ham platter to nibble on.
