Anyone that knows me knows I love Asia, it has in the past been like a second home to me, having spent time living in Hong Kong and Bangkok (In fact I am going to be back there next weekend, so watch out for Asian content coming up). And one thing that goes hand in hand with the Chinese influences of Asian culture is tea 茶, and I love it! My favourite tea which I drink all the time is Taiwanese Ali Shan; I love the fact it comes in little pellets and the leaves unfurl in the pot as they infuse the water with this amazing taste that you really can’t find in other teas.
So I was delighted to try 3 of Jing Tea‘s leading teas (Ali Shan, Hui Ming Spring and Golden Gong Fu) to see if they could beat my regular cup of tea (which I have been running low on)
Jing Tea
Jing was launched in 2004 and is now a global tea brand with customers in 75 countries. The focus is on only the finest of tea from China, Taiwan, Japan, India and Sri Lanka and paired up with their bespoke tea sets makes ever cup a luxury experience.
The Teas
I started my tea adventure with my goto tea Ali Shan. I discovered Ali Shan through an Asian friend when I lived in Hong Kong and I have never looked back. Coming from Taiwan Ali Shan is an Oolong Tea that blends the benefits of green tea with the flavours of black tea it is something quite incredible; and the one thing you won’t think is possible to create with a tea is is a creamy texture which is so delicate but delivers loads of flavour at the same time.
Jing tea is best served in one of their tea sets or infusers. I had a tea set which includes a beautiful glass tea pot with built in strainer, an infusion jug and two lovely tea cups that are double glass so they don’t get hot on your hands.
The Ali Shan tea was just as I’d hoped; full of flavour, texture and super creamy, I could drink cups of it all day!
The next tea I sampled was Hui Ming Spring, a new one for me, harvested in April in Jingning, in the mountainous south of Zhejiang China, this tea was super light in flavour, delicate and floral, a perfect green tea in my opinion.
The final tea is called Golden Gong Fu, now as a rule of thumb I don’t really like black tea, I never drank British tea growing up, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was presently surprised. Golden Gong Fu is from Tan Yang village, Fujian. It was surprisingly flavorful, it has almost a meaty taste to it, which I quite liked.
TLE Thoughts
I loved Jing Tea, it is very high quality and each of the three teas had a distinct and unique flavour. The tea set was fun and made the process of brewing the leaf tea easy, they are my new UK brand to buy tea from.
