I love Thailand I have been so many times I have lost track, well I love Asia in general but there is something extra special about Thailand. I have spent a lot of time in Bangkok, I am a city person at heart, I love the fast pace, the congestion, the buzz that you get in Bangkok… But there comes a time for every visitor to the city when you just need to escape and get away from the masses.

I have been to many of the islands in the country, but I wanted to get a second opinion, from luxury experts, have I missed any islands that I should be visiting? So I asked Tropical Sky who specialise in luxury holidays to tell TLE which islands they would recommend.
1. Koh Yao Yai and Koh Yao Noi
Home to some of the most high-end resorts, these twin islands off the east coast of Phuket are where you want to head to for pure escapism and luxury. Although there aren’t any specific landmarks or attractions you simply must visit, the beauty of the natural scenery is all you really need. Browse the local shops, rice paddies, mangrove forests or simply kick back on one of the many empty beaches for some real relaxation.
2. Koh Racha
Just off the south-eastern coast of Phuket lies a beautiful island just beginning to grow in popularity. Koh Racha is a tiny gorgeous island that you can walk across in literally fifteen minutes! It has all the services and attractions that you’d want from a desert island: scuba diving, snorkelling, coconut palm forests, and of course stunning white sand beaches to laze around on all day. Jet skis and parasailing are officially banned on this island, so you won’t have to worry about all the trashy tourist trends coming your way.

3. Ko Lanta
A picturesque paradise, Ko Lanta is a stunning spot where you’ll be certain to find an un-crowded beach. Unlike the more popular and commercial islands in Thailand like Koh Phi Phi, Ko Lanta is an undiscovered island that’s still a secret gem. Its coasts feature incredible coral reefs and underwater life, if you fancy a snorkel or a dive. It’s also a place known for some of the most beautiful sunsets you’ll ever witness and there are a number of luxury resorts where you can sip a glass of wine and watch the splendour at your leisure.
4. Koh Kho Khao
You’re bound to have more fun staying on this luxury island than attempting to pronounce it, that’s for sure! Koh Kho Khao is the quintessential hideaway from Thailand’s mass tourism and it’s known to be a spot popular for those looking to lie back and relax without the hustle and bustle. Its soft golden beaches stretch for miles and there are numerous high quality resorts and spas just waiting to treat you to luxury service!
